A new landscape takes form in Davis

The concept was to have overlapping hardscape – concrete and flagstones – alternate with vegetation and water. This project is a remodel, so we wanted the new landscape to look as though it was designed with the pool. Sweeping curves nestle around the pool, leading the eye to a sitting area at the back of the garden. An ample circular patio will someday host a table and chairs for outdoor dining.

The next phase will be two curved seat walls; one in front and one in back. The posts in the photo are for a lattice screen to hide a gas grill.

The pool’s rocks and waterfall were left in place, but the pool coping is new cantilevered concrete so it matches the patio and walkways. We managed to keep the existing tile and plaster, replacing only the coping.

The new landscape uses massive rocks to visually link to the pool’s rocks, further unifying the overall design.
