Spring is coming!

These old flowering quince bushes were here when we moved in. Since they’re in the back of the garden, we’ve only pruned them for shape and tried to eradicate a lot of nasty smothering raspberries that sprout like the thorn vines of some evil fairy tale witch.

A great thing with these plants is that some early yellow daffodils bloom at the same time, for a yellow-pink color splash. Since our flowering quince just hides a fence behind the vegetable garden, they’re just a splash of color at the far end of the garden.
