Complimentary (and value) contrast: purple & yellow
Berberis and phormium leaves together create a bold complimentary contrast using red-violet and yellow-green. If the entire garden were planted in this manner, it would be rather jarring. However, used judiciously, this effect can do much to enliven a space.
