Finishing the sculpture garden

Landscape architect's rendering of the sculpture garden
This image shows how everything may look when it’s completed. The sculpture, landscape and people all can interact.

Our job as landscape architects isn’t just to place the sculpture: it’s also to make sure that it’s integrated into the overall design. Since this is a three dimensional piece, we’re thinking of putting a path around it for strolling. It will need to be placed on a concrete pedestal – a place to add integral color to the “mud” so that the pedestal looks more like the site’s reddish, Martian-looking soil.

The sculpture and surrounding landscape could look like this, with a curb to define the edge of the driveway, a path for viewing the sculpture, and low-growing native grasses surounding a colored concrete pedestal.
