Sisyrinchium bellum flowers
Have to almost lie down for this shot, but it’s worth it.
Profuse blooms in April on blue-eyed grass
The flowers are packed so tightly that the plant is invisible
It’s now Earth Day, April 22nd, and the plants are blooming even more spectacularly than when they started around March 14th. In about a week, the Penstemon ‘Marguerita BOP’ will join them. The Western Blue Flax is already putting on a show nearby, so that corner of the garden is looking pretty colorful.
Blue-eyed grass only opens its flowers in the sun, and it likes to sleep in a bit before it decides to wake up – so it’s not much of a display during an early morning stroll.
